Shirouzu Roko is a contemporary sculptor working in the naive genre. Her wooden sculptures represent a world of fantasy and myth. For the artist, the material from which she creates her works is very important. Choosing a tree as a future object for the sculpture, Shirouzu tries to take a closer look, to feel it. Shirouzu says that the future sculpture will manifest itself in the material. Miraculous animals will appear like forest spirits, magical characters similar to fairy-tale heroes or totems. The artist boldly works with volume and size, trying to give her characters a realistic look. Looking at the painted wooden sculptures of Shirouzu, the audience will plunge into the mysterious world of nature and fantasy.
